Indications
Treatment of infections of the skin and mucous membranes caused by Herpes simplex virus, including primary and recurrent genital herpes.
Prevention of recurrent infections caused by Herpes simplex virus in patients with normal immunity.
Prevention of infections caused by Herpes simple virus in immunodeficient patients.
Treatment of infections caused by Varicella zoster virus (varicella zoster, herpes zoster). Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to acyclovir, valacyclovir or other components of the drug. Dosage and administration
The tablet should be taken whole, drinking water. When using high doses of the drug it is necessary to maintain an adequate level of hydration of the body.
Adults.
Treatment of infections caused by Herpes simplex virus. The drug is administered in a dose of 200 mg 5 times a day at approximately 4-hour intervals, except for the night period. The duration of treatment is 5 days, but in case of severe primary infection it can be continued. If necessary, in patients with severe immunodeficiency or reduced intestinal absorption, the single dose may be doubled to 400 mg or an appropriate intravenous dose may be used. Treatment should be started as soon as possible after the onset of infection. In case of recurrent herpes, it is better to start treatment during the prodromal period or after the first signs of skin lesions appear. Prevention of recurrent Herpes infections
