Methods for Using Essential Oils
Aromatherapy lamp. Air out the room and close the windows. Pour warm water into the aromatherapy lamp and add a few drops of essential oil (2 drops per 5 m² of room area). Light the candle under the aroma lamp. The water should not boil. Operating time: 20 minutes to 2 hours. Do not leave the lamp burning unattended. Add water as needed.
Aromapendant: Pour 3–5 drops of essential oil or a blend of oils into the aromapendant and wear it around your neck throughout the day.
Aromatherapy Baths. Fill the tub with water at a comfortable temperature. Mix the essential oil into a base (sea salt, milk, kefir) in the following proportions:
• For a full bath: 8 drops for general tonic effects, 10–13 drops for restorative effects
• For a sitz bath: 2 drops for general tonic effects, 4 drops for restorative effects
• For hands and feet—4 drops of oil per container.
Bath duration—10–20 minutes.
Compresses. Dissolve up to 5 drops of essential oil or a blend of oils in a carrier oil (as for baths) in 1 glass of water. Soak a cotton cloth in this solution and apply it to the affected area for 2 hours. The water for compresses used to treat rheumatic, muscular, or joint pain should be hot (40–45°C). Cover with plastic wrap and leave it on until it reaches body temperature. Once the compress has cooled, remove the plastic wrap, pat dry with a towel, and wrap the area in a dry, warm cloth to retain heat.
Cold compresses are made with chilled water or ice. They help relieve headaches (apply to the forehead or the back of the head), muscle strains, swelling, and bruises.
Massage and rubs. Mix essential oil into a plant-based cosmetic oil or cream (3–5 drops per 10 ml), apply to the skin, and then massage according to your body’s condition.
Enriching shampoos, shower gels, and creams: Add 2–3 drops of oil or a blend of oils per 10–15 grams of the product being enriched.
As a fragrance, apply 1 drop to the inside of your wrist, the inside seams of your clothing, or your hair. To make a spray, add 5–20 drops of essential oils (aroma blends) dissolved in 1 tablespoon of an alcohol-based product to a spray bottle filled with 1 liter of plain water. Then shake the container and spray the mixture throughout the room.
